The Brief

 

The initial survey was carried out on site by Chris. The customer’s brief was to create an open plan living space linking kitchen to dining room.

Plan and Design Process

 

From a design point of view the current kitchen was very disjointed with doors and windows in awkward places.

The design and quote was produced and presented 6 days later in store with 3d images and the use of display kitchens including the following suggestions to provide the customer with their wish list.

  • We suggested removing the internal wall between kitchen and dining room.
  • Block up back door and fit new wider window.
  • Block up small window to allow more space around range cooker.
  • Move sink position to allow more work space.
  • Bring fridge / freezer into kitchen along with food storage that was all in the utility room.

Minor adjustments were made to the original quote to bring quote down more suited to their requirements, the work top was changed to a high quality laminate along with changing the floor tiles to luxury vinyl tiles.

The start, work in progress and completion

 

Two months later the project begun.

The team started on a Monday by removing the internal wall between the kitchen and the dining room, the back door was blocked up and a new wider window fitted. Plumbing and electrics that were required were also carried out during this time and to finish the first week the plastering took place.

Next step was the following Monday to fit the kitchen, appliances and worktop. This was all ready for the floor to be screed and new flooring fitted the beginning of the following week. The end of that week then plinths could be fitted, range cooker and extractor fitted and completed any finishing touches.
